St. Patrick's High School Dress Code

The dress code policy has been effective since August 2001. It is the policy of the board that all students wear appropriate dress and hairstyles of a modest and conventional nature.

The following dress regulations apply to all students, 7th-12th grades. The purpose and intent of these regulations are to encourage modesty, neatness, order and unity appropriate to students of a Catholic School. All dress will be judged accordingly. The administration has the final decision on all questions.

  • Cotton twill pants or walking shorts (mid-thigh to knee length) in navy or khaki. Painter style, cargo style and pants or shorts that are excessively baggy are not permitted. Denim and corduroy are not permitted.
  • Short or long-sleeve polo shirts in Navy, White, Green, Burgundy, or Light Yellow. Shirts and blouses must have collars, button fronts, and tuck able tails. T-SHIRTS or T-SHIRT STYLE SHIRTS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Shirts may not have logos, lettering, pictures, messages, advertisements, college or other crests on them. Brand logos no larger than a quarter on the front left area of the shirt will be allowed. Extra large, baggy shirts are not acceptable.
  • Solid cardigan sweaters and sweatshirts in Hunter Green without hoods are also permitted. They may not have logos, lettering, pictures, messages, advertisements, college or other crests on them.
  • Solid White oxford button-down shirts with collar and tail may be worn.
  • Green, Gold, or White(school colors) polo shirts or sweatshirts with approved St. Pat's logos are acceptable.

Shorts must be of "walking" length. Shorts are permitted from May 1st until September 30th. NO shorts between October 1st and April 30th.

Hair must be kept neat, clean and well groomed and it must be of a reasonable length and style. Boys' hair may not be on the shoulders or in a ponytail. Boys may not wear mustaches or beards. Boys are not allowed to wear earrings. Hair styles/length should never be such that they draw attention or comment.

Coats and jackets(outerwear) may not be worn in the classrooms and hallways of the school between opening bell and dismissal bell, except for recess times.

Caps or other head covering are not permitted in school buildings or at gymnasium athletic events both at home and away activities.

Students traveling to represent the school in other communities must observe as a minimum, the same dress rules as apply during the regular school day. The coaches/sponsors of the various activities may establish a more specific dress requirement for their teams. See activities handbook for more details.

ENFORCEMENT:

These rules will be enforced. That enforcement will not be difficult, time-consuming or distract from the business of education if parents take charge of their own students and do not leave enforcement to the schools. For further information, please refer to the student handbook.
