 Jewel Diner in vacent lot

In the spring of 1949 Perry O. Neumeyer, known to most of his friends and family as P.O., purchased a lot on Highway 2 from George Marshall.  He moved in a mobile diner, known as the Jewel Diner, and opened for business in May of 1949. Business was good.  In 1951 he added onto the building.  Bill Neumeyer said, “It was a small schoolhouse that came from south of the Sandhills and Perry put in booths and an old jukebox that sat in the back.”
