The Jewel Diner

Where is the Jewel Diner today?

Barb and Evert Falkena from Sutherland, NE bought the Jewel Diner from Wayne and Betty Hampton in 1999. (The diner had not been occupied since 1972 and had remained sitting unused along High way 2 in Mullen.) The Falkena's wanted something to remind them of Saturday nights where they would hang out with all of their friends. They restored the Jewel Diner to make it look like it did back in the day when Perry Neumeyer owned it. Sure, they made their own modifications but the diner looks absolutely great and has a lot of meaning to the both of them. Their story of restoring the Jewel Diner, renamed as Barb's Diner, is quite interesting.
