Cedarview Dry Valley Eclipse Long's Seneca Virginia
The Cedarview Cemetery in Mullen, Nebraska was started in 1904. A.F. Hatch platted and donated the land, which is on a gently sloping hill on the east end of town. The First Addition was opened in 1928, the Second Addition in 1960, and the Third Addition in 1976. Shortly before the First Addition was “open for business,” the first water was piped into the cemetery but the water system was continually modified until 1972 when it was deemed satisfactory. The chain link fence that surrounds the cemetery was finished in 1964 and the roads were paved shortly after, in 1969.
Maintenance of the cemetery had always been voluntary but as the number of people buried there increased, it was evident that some sort of change was necessary. So, therefore, in 1977 when new deeds were issued, lots were sold with fees that provided either perpetual care or yearly upkeep. These fees also allowed the cemetery board to hire people to do the mowing, trimming, or watering.
The Cedarview Cemetery is a credit to the Mullen community. It is an attractive reminder of those who have passed on from this area.
