This is a new year and new things are happening with our music program! For starters, we have a new teacher, Christy Hageman. Ms. Hageman comes from Omaha, Nebraska, where she attended UNO. She completed her student teaching at Grace University, Lewis and Clark Middle School and Ashland Park Elementary. Her passion for kids and music has brought her to our little community in Mullen. Who says change is never good?

Ms. Hageman has a lot to offer students who are interested in the music area. She specializes in choir--but doesn't lack in band! As well as in past years, the band performs before and during half-time of football and basketball games, along with entertaining us at inspirational pep rallies! The band has also participated in fundraisers selling pizza and cookie dough! Later this spring, all music students will be attending District Music. Good Luck!

In the afternoons, Ms. Hageman will be going down to the grade school to teach kids how to play an instrument. She really enjoys working with the fifth and sixth graders! At the beginning of the year, she lets the students choose what instruments they want to play. The kids don't have a reason to why they choose the instruments that they do, other than the fact that they just want to play. After a full quarter of hard practicing, the elementary band students are well prepared for their Christmas program. The students are very anxious to share with the community just what they have learned. The Christmas music program will be December 10, 2007, at 7:00 p.m!
