This year the Mullen One-Act team had a very interesting time. Although we didn't win a bronze, silver, or gold at any competition, we learned that there is more to one act than just winning and losing. The Mullen One Act team has always had fun, and having fun is just what we did. We had a surprisingly large number of twenty-six students participate. “This,” Miss Jay said, “is the most students that I have ever had out, and I don't know what to do with all of them!”

The play that we chose this year was titled, Life As a Techie or Something Like It . It was about a high school that is trying to perform a one-act play themselves. The actors are very serious about their acting but the techies are not. The techie is just another name for stage crew. Anyway, there is a new kid, Newbie, that does not want to be an actor or a techie. Nobody will listen to Newbie besides a vegetable, Kinsey. In the end, it turns out that Newbie is a playwright and ends up helping everyone out so that the actors and techies can perform the play.

The whole gang!!
Even though we were serious about acting on the set, behind the scenes we managed to have a little bit of fun. We all found out that Justy does not have a quiet voice at 5:30 in the morning when everyone on the bus is trying to sleep. We also found out that Megan is entertained very easily. Just follow the yellow brick road Megan. And last but not least, we all learned that Miss Jay gets very mad when you leave the props behind at the town in which you've just performed.

But all in all it was a very fun year. I'm very impressed that Miss Jay kept her cool the whole time; she made it very fun for all of us. Thanks Jay!!!
