Speech 2008
This year, we have 16 members out for speech. All the events are filled. At Sandhills Conference, our first meet of the year, the team took first place. Mullen hosted Loup Valley Conference Speech. Competition was stiff with ten schools attending. District Speech will be in Sandhills on March 12, 2008, and State Speech is in Kearney on March 19, 2008.

Last year, Spring 2007, was a successful year for the speech team. The team had 17 members filling all events with the exception of Extemporaneous. We did very well at the speech meets. The team took second place at SHC.
At Districts 2007, the team placed first. The OID team, Dusty J in Entertainment, and Cammie S in Informative, won first place at Districts. Jeremy J placed second in Humorous Pros, and Ben D placed second in Extemporaneous . Kellie L and Brandi S placed third. Jessie S, Hannah C and Duet placed fourth.
A total of eight students in five events made it to state speech in Kearney:

Although the trip to Kearney was unsuccessful in the fact that we did not place in our events, we gained some good experience at a higher level.
