The Internet is a wonderful resource for poetry. I have prepared some links to guide you though some exploration of poetry. The ultimate goal is to enjoy poetry. The next is to be more creative with your own use of language. Please use the links that I have found to guide you to some interesting and entertaining sites.

 

Check off what you complete and hand in at the end of class.

 

o       Go to the Mrs. Schulz's Reading Resource Page from the Library Resources page.

o       Scroll down to Poetry near the end of the Reading Resource Page.

o       First open Computer Lab Activities.

o       Read the Goals.

o       Then click on the word Poetry.

o       Examine what is on this page for references. Keep this open for later use.

o       Now open a new window. Click File, then New on the web page menu.

o       Click back twice.

o       Click on language in the Poetry section. 

o       Become familiar with the Elements of Poetry. Complete as many language activities as you can.  Check out more information about Similes and Metaphors on this page.

Ask for copies to write on for the following activities:

o                 Simile Worksheet

o                 Metaphor Worksheet

o                 Ruth Gendler Writing (Personification)

A final poetry assignment will be for you to write and illustrate an    Exaggeration Poem.
