Personal Biography
By Taine J. Fruit

As a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney, I began my teaching career at St. Paul, Nebraska. My first job was teaching first graders all the subject areas with an emphasis in reading and math skilIs.
After teaching 4 years in the first grade classroom, I accepted a third grade position. I was much more comfortable with this age of children. I enjoyed these students and taught for 4 more years until I decided to have children of my own. I substituted once in awhile and I learned many new classroom strategies as a substitute teacher.

My husband accepted a teaching position in Ogallala, Nebraska and I substituted regularly. When my youngest child entered kindergarten I decided that I was ready again to join a school system. A fourth grade position came open and I was hired. I taught fourth grade for 4 years and then accepted a fifth grade teaching position. I have loved teaching fifth grade and I have enjoyed the personalities and ages of these students. It took me a few years to discover where my strengths and weaknesses are. I learned a lot about myself as a teacher while I was working on my master's degree. Teaching has been a very rewarding experience and I feel it is a privilege to work with children daily. I strongly believe in the NSEA motto, "Teaching is to touch a life forever."
